Fire alarm maintenance & compliance
Certification to BS 5839 and BAFE SP203-1 after every visit
Fire alarm maintenance is a legal requirement — and under BS 5839, systems must be serviced at regular intervals by a competent provider. SPS Technical carries out planned preventative maintenance visits, issues compliance certificates after every visit, and provides reactive callout for faults and failures.
- Scheduled PPM visits to BS 5839 and BAFE SP203-1
- Full compliance documentation and audit trail
- Reactive fault response and emergency callout
- We maintain systems installed by other contractors
Fire alarm system takeovers
We take responsibility for systems we didn't install
Switching fire alarm maintenance contractor? Inherited a system with incomplete records? SPS Technical audits, takes over and maintains existing fire alarm systems regardless of original installer, system age or manufacturer. We produce a written audit report before any contract starts.
- Full panel-to-detector audit with written report
- Remedial works agreed and costed before contract starts
- Incomplete documentation rebuilt from site inspection
- Multi-site portfolio takeovers supported
False alarm management
Nuisance alarms cost time, money and police response
Persistent false alarms erode confidence in your system, risk removal of police response under the NPCC false alarm policy, and indicate a system that hasn't been properly designed or maintained. SPS Technical investigates root causes and implements lasting fixes — not temporary resets.
- Root cause investigation — detector type, placement, environment
- System category review against BS 5839 requirements
- Detector replacement, re-zoning and sensitivity adjustment
- Verification and cause-and-effect testing post-remediation
