About SPS Technical — How We Work

Practical technical support, clear ownership and long-term system care.

SPS Technical's operating model is designed around the long-term reliability of technical systems — not one-off installation and handover. We take ownership, document, communicate and plan ahead.

Operating Principles

Five principles behind our approach

01

We start with the system, not the sales pitch

Every site is different. Before recommending work, we look at the existing system, the building, the risk, the client's responsibilities and the practical issues affecting day-to-day operation.

Where a system has been inherited from another provider, we assess what is installed, what documentation exists, what faults or recommendations are outstanding, and what needs to happen to bring the system into a manageable maintenance position.

02

We maintain before we replace — lifecycle management

We do not assume that every problem requires a new system. Where systems can be safely maintained, repaired or improved, we will explain the options clearly. Our engineers investigate root causes—whether environmental factors, equipment deterioration, or configuration issues—and implement lasting solutions that reduce repeat faults.

Where replacement, upgrade or remedial work is needed, we will explain why, what risk it addresses and how it supports compliance, performance or long-term reliability. We take a lifecycle approach, advising on when components should be replaced, when systems remain fit for purpose, and when upgrades provide genuine value.

03

We take ownership of the maintenance cycle

Technical systems are only useful if they work when needed. Our maintenance model is designed around planned preventative maintenance visits, responsive fault response, documented recommendations, remedial follow-up and clear communication with the client. We work to agreed Service Level Agreements with transparent response times based on severity and operational impact.

We want clients to understand what has been checked, what has been found, what needs action and what can be planned for later. Every visit is documented with full details of work carried out, defects recorded, corrective actions identified and tracked—ensuring transparency, consistency and a clear audit trail.

04

We use data and digital records for proactive management

SPS Technical uses digital service platforms and reporting tools to support engineer visits, asset information, maintenance records, recommendations and client visibility. Between visits, we use proactive monitoring tools (CheckMyCCTV for CCTV systems, AlarmMaster for fire and alarm systems) to identify issues early—often before they are noticed on site.

This helps reduce missed actions, improves auditability and gives clients better evidence when they need to demonstrate that systems are being maintained properly. Early fault identification enables faster diagnosis and improved system reliability.

05

We connect technical systems with monitoring and response

Where systems connect to alarm monitoring, keyholding, CCTV monitoring or response services, SPS Technical can work with SPS Security Ltd to provide a joined-up approach. As a division of SPS Security Ltd, we are supported by SPS Security Ltd's operational response services and can integrate technical maintenance with alarm monitoring (through an ARC) and response services.

This is particularly important for intruder alarms, monitored fire alarms, CCTV response, keyholding and sites where technical faults can create operational or compliance risk. Integrated systems work together—cameras link to alarm events, recording is triggered by intruder activation, and monitoring operates through a single connection.

Digital Platforms

The tools behind the service

SPS Technical uses purpose-built digital platforms to support engineer visits, asset records, service documentation and client-facing reporting — including AlarmMaster, CheckMyCCTV, TrackTik and Timegate.

AlarmMaster — fire alarm compliance
CheckMyCCTV — CCTV health monitoring
TrackTik — engineer scheduling
Timegate — attendance management
