Quick answer

Who installs commercial access control in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire?

SPS Technical is a Paxton Gold installer and SSAIB certified (HUMB018) for access control to Code of Practice SS 2002, based in Hull. It installs, maintains, upgrades and takes over Paxton Net2, Paxton10 and Paxton Entry access control and door entry, and links doors to fire alarms so they release automatically when the alarm sounds. Systems are maintained at least once a year, and every installation ends with an SSAIB certificate and an "as fitted" specification.

Choosing a system

Commercial door access control systems we install

We design and install access control and door entry systems for offices, schools, healthcare, industrial and multi-site estates, using Paxton and other commercial platforms.

Fob & card door access

Proximity fobs and cards on internal and external doors, with access levels and time zones set per person or team.

Mobile & cloud-based access

Phone credentials and cloud-managed systems such as Paxton10, so you can add users or unlock doors remotely.

Video door entry & intercoms

IP intercoms and video door entry for receptions, staff entrances and out-of-hours visitors.

Biometric readers

Fingerprint and face recognition readers for high-security areas, labs, stores and server rooms, on their own or alongside fobs.

Gate & barrier access control

Readers, intercoms, ANPR-ready controllers and fobs for vehicle gates and barriers. The gate or barrier itself is fitted by a specialist partner we can recommend.

Keypad & PIN entry

Simple keypad control for stores, plant rooms and low-traffic doors, or as a second factor with a fob.

Multi-site access control

One system and one credential across several buildings, with central user management and reporting.

Fire alarm door release

Doors that release correctly when the fire alarm activates, tested as part of every maintenance visit.

Planning new access control or replacing an old system?

A local engineer will survey your doors, check the fire alarm interface and give you a clear, itemised proposal.

FAQs

Commercial access control questions

A commercial access control system controls who can open which doors and when, using fobs, cards, phones or PIN codes instead of keys. It records every entry, lets you remove a lost fob or a leaver's access in seconds, and links to door hardware, intercoms and the fire alarm.

Cost depends mainly on the number of doors, the type of door hardware, cabling routes and whether you choose an on-site or cloud-based system. We price each project after a site survey so the quote reflects your building.

Fobs and cards suit most offices, schools and industrial sites. Mobile and cloud-based access suits multi-site organisations and teams that want to manage users remotely. Many sites use both, and we can advise which fits during the survey.

On most commercial premises, doors on escape routes must release automatically when the fire alarm activates. We design and test that interface so the access control system never prevents safe escape.

Yes. We audit existing systems from any installer, including Paxton Net2, review users and door hardware, then maintain or upgrade them, for example moving from an older platform to cloud-based access.

Yes. We supply, install and maintain the access control side, including readers, intercoms, fobs and controllers for vehicle gates and barriers. We don't fit the gates or barriers themselves. If you need new ones, we'll recommend a specialist partner and connect our access control to them.

Our local engineers install and maintain access control across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Humber, including Hull, Grimsby, Lincoln, Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster, Wakefield, York and Scunthorpe.

FAQs

Common access control questions

Net2 is managed from software on a PC or server and suits most single and multi-site businesses. Paxton10 is managed from a web browser and can include video in the same system. Both are licence-free. We help you choose at survey.

Doors on escape routes are set to unlock (fail safe) when the fire alarm sounds or the power fails, so nobody is trapped. Doors that must stay locked, such as a store room, can be set to fail secure. We agree which is which at survey.

It depends on the risk. Fobs and cards are the most common. Phones as credentials are convenient, and PINs or biometrics add a second check for higher-risk doors.

At least once a year. We check every reader, lock and power supply, test the fire release, and review leavers and joiners so old fobs no longer work.

Yes. We audit it, give you a written report and maintain it, whoever installed it. If it's old or unsupported, we can move it onto Paxton Net2 or Paxton10.

Yes. Door events can be matched to camera footage, and the intruder alarm can set or unset with access. Most importantly, doors release when the fire alarm sounds.

Paxton products carry Paxton's five-year warranty against electronic failure, and proximity fobs carry a lifetime warranty.
