Commercial Guarding & Patrols
Guarding, patrols, keyholding and mobile response are delivered by SPS Security Ltd. SPS Technical presents this as an integrated SPS Group capability, and enquiries can be coordinated through SPS Technical. This allows customers to combine fire and security technology with physical security through one joined-up organisation.
One Organisation, Joined-Up Protection
One group, covering technology and physical security
SPS Technical and SPS Security are part of the same organisation — not separate suppliers stitched together. Technical systems and physical security can be planned, delivered and supported through a single joined-up relationship. Guarding, patrols and response services are subject to survey, availability and a separate agreed service specification — they are not automatically included within a technical maintenance contract.
SPS Technical provides
- Fire and security system installation
- Planned maintenance and compliance

Cover when systems are impaired or being changed
SPS Technical customers may need physical security support before, during or after technical works. Temporary guarding can help maintain protection where a system is offline, reduced or being replaced. The service scope and duration are agreed individually for each site.
Temporary guarding is delivered by the SPS Security Guarding Division and is subject to survey, availability and an agreed assignment specification.
Fire-Watch Support
Risk-led, temporary fire-watch
Where a fire alarm or other fire-protection measure is temporarily impaired, the SPS Security Guarding Division may provide personnel to carry out an agreed fire-watch service while permanent technical measures are restored. Fire-watch support may be provided where a site-specific risk assessment identifies a temporary need.
Fire-watch support is a temporary, risk-led measure. It does not replace the requirement to repair or restore fire-safety systems, and the client remains responsible for its wider fire-safety duties. The scope is agreed for each site and personnel work to documented instructions.
What fire-watch involves
- The service is temporary and risk-led
- The scope must be agreed for each site
- Personnel work to documented instructions
- The service does not replace the requirement to repair or restore fire-safety systems
- The client remains responsible for its wider fire-safety duties
Mobile Patrols
Visible, documented out-of-hours cover
Mobile patrols provide a visible security presence and documented attendance for premises that do not require a permanent officer. Patrols can be scheduled or risk-led, and are delivered by trained officers in marked SPS vehicles.
- Scheduled patrols
- Risk-led patrols
- External checks
- Authorised internal checks
- Perimeter checks
- Vacant-property checks
- Locking and unlocking
- Welfare checks where included
- Digital patrol and incident reporting
SPS Security mobile patrols
Mobile patrols are delivered by the SPS Security Guarding Division across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Humber, with 24/7 control room backing and digital attendance reporting.

From activation to resolution
Keyholding and alarm response remove the burden of out-of-hours callouts from your staff. When an alarm activates, the SPS Security Guarding Division can hold keys, attend the site and secure the premises — with SPS Technical on hand for any technical follow-up.
Event received
An alarm or monitored event is received — by the ARC for alarm signalling, or by SPS Security's operational control room for event monitoring.
Assessed
The event is assessed against agreed instructions.
Contacts notified
Nominated contacts or responders are notified in line with the agreed cascade.
Mobile attendance
A mobile officer may attend where included in the agreed service.
Checked & secured
The premises are checked and secured where appropriate.
Recorded & escalated
Findings are recorded and escalated in line with the agreed procedure.
Technical follow-up
SPS Technical can provide technical follow-up if a fault or remedial issue is identified.
Technical Follow-Up
One organisation for both layers
If a guarding, patrol or keyholding response identifies a fault or remedial issue, SPS Technical can provide the technical follow-up — so the system is restored by the same organisation that supports the physical response. This removes the handover gap between “what happened” and “who fixes it”.
- Fault diagnosis
- Emergency repairs
- Replacement equipment
- Temporary system solutions
- Remedial works
- System upgrades
- Maintenance reviews following repeated activations
Why one organisation helps
A response officer secures the site. An SPS Technical engineer diagnoses the fault, carries out the repair and updates the maintenance record — all within the same group, with shared escalation and reporting.
