Know your CCTV is recording, before you need the footage

Most CCTV faults are found too late: someone goes to pull footage after an incident and discovers the recorder stopped recording weeks ago. Remote health monitoring checks connected systems every hour and sends you an email alert when something fails.

It is an optional extra for peace of mind, or can be included as added value in a maintenance contract.

FAQs

Common CCTV questions

Long-standing Home Office guidance is that a person should fill at least 100% of the screen height to be identified; modern standards express this as about 250 pixels per metre. SPS designs identification views to 120%. We agree the purpose of each camera (detect, observe, recognise or identify) at survey.

We set systems to keep at least 30 days of footage, and up to 45 days where a site needs it. Storage is sized at survey to match the number of cameras and image quality, and confirmed at handover.

If your cameras capture people, you are processing personal data under UK GDPR and usually need to pay the ICO data protection fee. We supply compliant signage and advise on retention and privacy at survey.

Yes. We audit every camera and recorder, give you a written report and then maintain the system, whoever installed it.

At least once a year under our standard agreement, with more frequent visits for busy or monitored systems. Remote health monitoring checks recording and camera status between visits.
