Access Credentials — Fobs, Cards, Keypads and Mobile
Modern access control systems support a range of credential types — from traditional proximity fobs and smart cards through to mobile credentials accessed via smartphone. The right choice depends on your site, your users and your security requirements. SPS Technical advises on the most appropriate credential type during the site survey and can mix credential types across different areas of the same building.

Fire Alarm Interface — A Legal Requirement
In any building with both a fire alarm and access control system, the two must be correctly interfaced. When a fire alarm activates, electric locks must release automatically to allow safe evacuation — this is a requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Because SPS Technical installs both fire alarms and access control, the interface is designed in from the outset, tested at installation and verified at every maintenance visit.
A legal requirement — designed in from the outset
In any building with both a fire alarm and access control system, the two must be correctly interfaced. Every SPS Technical access control installation begins with a site survey covering doors, user numbers, access zones, existing infrastructure and integration requirements. We specify the right Paxton system, supply and install all hardware, configure user credentials and access schedules, and provide full training and documentation on handover.

FAQs
Installation questions
Net2 is managed from software on a PC or server and suits most single and multi-site businesses. Paxton10 is managed from a web browser and can include video in the same system. Both are licence-free. We help you choose at survey.
Doors on escape routes are set to unlock (fail safe) when the fire alarm sounds or the power fails, so nobody is trapped. Doors that must stay locked, such as a store room, can be set to fail secure. We agree which is which at survey.
It depends on the risk. Fobs and cards are the most common. Phones as credentials are convenient, and PINs or biometrics add a second check for higher-risk doors.
Paxton products carry Paxton's five-year warranty against electronic failure, and proximity fobs carry a lifetime warranty.
